It Starts With a List

It is 24, almost 25, days into the new year and I am just now thinking of all things that I wish I was conquering this year. Things like running a marathon, saving thousands of dollars every month, writing my first novel, working out every day, and of course, losing that eternal 20 pounds. Fifteen days into the new year I did manage to complete my undergraduate degree, after starting it almost 20 years ago. So, you can kind of see my personal pattern here. I am a slow finisher. Is that in any positive aspect an attribute worth having?

One thing I have learned about myself over the last 20 years is I love the simplicity and hopeful nature of lists. They remind me a little bit of short prominent poems.
So, here is a list to start off my new blog (one of a dozen I had long forgotten and abandoned).

These are the things I want to learn about, accomplish, practice, and enjoy over the next 365-24 days:
1. Finish some of these kitting projects I’ve started
2. Exercise more often, at home and at The Fancy Work Gym AKA FitPit
3. Teach more sessions on leadership development
4. Learn how to dance
5. Wear more dresses
6. Use more fountain pens
7. Save more money
8. Travel to a beach with the kids
9. Travel to a beach without the kids
10. Spin wool
11. Kayak the Lake out my window
12. Sail to the San Juans
13. Leave the dishes in the sink less often
14. Write some poems
15. Replace the lightbulb on the porch
16. Go running outside
17. Write down my stories
18. Teach Pippa the Bulldog how to walk on a leash
19. Learn to swim with Isla
20. Lean to bake sourdough bread
21. Learn sign language
22. Play my violin in a band
